Rosacea/Couperose

Rosacea/Facial Redness (Couperose)

Rosacea is a chronic condition that affects the central area of the face, and less commonly, the eyelids.  It is often associated with  visible capillaries that can be bright red, especially in the area of the nose, cheeks, and chin.  This occurs because there is congestion (sluggish blood flow) of the blood under the skin.  The redness worsens with drinking alcohol, smoking, eating spicy food, and sun.

Anyone can have rosacea, but it is most commonly seen in those with fair skin.  It is found in both women and men, but if left untreated, especially in men, the nose can become enlarged and bumpy.

Skin care products need to be selected carefully in individuals with rosacea.  The products below have been tested in individuals with rosacea, and have been found to be useful.
