FAQs about Skin Care

I have very sensitive skin and allergies.  How do I know a product won’t react with my skin?

You can test a product on the sensitive skin inside your upper arm.  If that is OK, then try the side of your neck.

My skin has been thinning since I started menopause.  What can I do?

Menopause has tremendous impact on your skin.  At this time your skin loses as much as 30% of its thickness, particularly if you are not on hormone-rep0lacement therapy.  The skin is not able to hold on to moisture, and natural skin oils are produced in smaller amounts.  At this point, the underlying layer of fat that helps give skin its structure and supplemess begins to thin out.

Retinoid-containing products such as our Clarity line (sold only in the office), can help with this problem.  Also, fillers, such as Juvederm may also be used to fill in some areas.

My skin is so dry sometimes it cracks!!!!

Dry skin often has accumulated layers of dead skin at the surface.  Exfoliation and prescription strength retinoids such as Triluma or tretinoin are useful in improving skin turnover.  Using an excellent moisturizer is also essential, as a moisturizer helps your skin retain its moisture.  Finally, are you drinking enough fluids???  Your skin needs to be hydrated from the Inside-Out!
